Beginner's guide to Pokopia

The game can be very overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you start!
Pokémon Pokopia drops you on an island with a lot of emtpy space and approx 3 Pokémon to start the game with. It can feel soooooo overwhelming. So. Here's the short version of what to focus on early.
Talk to every Pokémon you see
You might get some nice items to use in the early game and their happiness will rise! Also. Be sure to check in with their comfort level. They will tell you exactly what they need to be happy. Make sure you use our Roommates tab to help you setting up the best houses.
Materials you'll want to hoard
A few resources show up in almost every recipe — keep an eye out and grab them whenever you pass:
- Wood and stone — the bread and butter of every kit
- Berries — they double as food and crafting ingredients
- Cloth and fiber — used in soft furniture and decoration kits
Anything else, gather as you need it. Pokopia is not a hoarder's game.
Pin your kits
Once you start building seriously, pin the kits you're working on from the Build Kits screen within pokopiacompanion. The "For your build kits" shopping list shows you everything pinned kits still need in one place, so you can run one big gathering trip instead of hunting for ingredients piecemeal.
Don't rush the story
The main quests are nice, but Pokopia rewards mood more than speed. Take the long route home, visit roommates that aren't quest-relevant, and let the island do its thing. The good stuff is in the small moments.
