Field guide

Cloud Island, from first slot to shared island

Cloud Island has its own progress in the companion, kept apart from your main game. You can track it on your own, or share an island with friends so you all tick things off on the same list.

The one rule to remember: pick your slot on the dashboard before you tick anything off. The app cannot tell which island you are standing on. It only knows which slot is lit up.

Most of this guide is for Companion Pass holders. Without the pass you get Cloud Island with 1 save slot. Slots 2 and 3, sharing, and everything about friends need the pass. If you do not see something from this guide, that is why. About Companion Pass

In the app

Switch to Cloud Island

At the top of the side menu there is a toggle with 🏠 Main and ☁ Cloud Island. Tap Cloud Island. The dashboard banner turns blue and says Cloud Island, so you always know which mode you are in.

Your main game progress is not touched. Switch back any time and it is exactly as you left it.

Your save slots

A save slot is one Cloud Island. Each slot keeps its own:

  • Pokémon you have caught
  • Habitats you have built
  • Houses and roommates
  • Your build queue
  • Your shopping list

Everyone gets 1 slot. With Companion Pass you get 3, so you can track three different islands side by side. Without the pass, slots 2 and 3 show a lock, and anything already saved in them is kept for when the pass comes back. Tap the pencil next to a slot to give it a name, like the friend you play it with.

In the app

Pick your slot before you tick anything off

The dashboard shows your slots under Cloud Island save slot. The highlighted one is the slot you are using right now.

Everything you tick off goes into that slot: Pokémon in the Pokédex, habitats, houses, the build queue and the shopping list. So before you open the Pokédex, go to the dashboard and tap the slot for the island you are playing.

Ticked something into the wrong slot?

It happens to everyone exactly once. Switch to the slot it belongs in and tick it there, then go back and untick it in the wrong one. Slots never copy progress to each other, so nothing fixes itself.

In the app

Private or shared

Every slot starts private. Only you see it and only you can change it.

You can turn any slot into a shared one. Then up to 3 friends can join, and everyone ticks things off on the same island. A shared slot shows a SHARED tag on the dashboard.

Sharing needs an active Companion Pass, for you and for every friend who joins. You can mix: one slot shared with a friend, the others private.

Share a slot and invite a friend

Open My Account and find the Cloud Island card. Pick the slot you want to share, then tap Share this slot.

If the slot already has progress, you choose what happens to it. Carry over my progress brings everything into the shared island. Start clean gives the group an empty island.

You now get a join code. Send it to your friend however you like: a message, Discord, a note taped to the fridge.

In the app

Your friend asks to join

Your friend opens My Account and goes to Join a friend's save. They pick which of their own slots to use for your island, paste the code and send the request.

Use an empty slot to join

Joining replaces whatever is in the chosen slot with the shared island, and that progress cannot be brought back. The app warns before it happens. Picking an empty slot avoids losing anything.

In the app

Accept the request

A request does not let anyone in yet. A code alone is not a key, you still have to open the door. When your friend sends the request, you get a notification in the bell. Tap it and it opens My Account on the right slot, with the request under pending. Tap Accept to let them in, or Decline to turn it down.

Your friend gets a notification too, once you accept.

Once they are in, you both see the same island. When you tick something off, they see it too. The dashboard shows who else is in the slot right now, and a feed of what everyone has caught and built.

In the app

Leaving, removing and stopping

Leave shared save: a friend who leaves keeps a copy of the island in their slot, as it was when they left. It stops syncing from then on.

Remove: the owner can remove any friend from the group. They lose access and stop seeing changes.

Stop sharing: the owner ends sharing for everyone. All friends are removed, and the owner keeps the island as a private slot with all progress.

When a Companion Pass ends

The app asks you to pick one slot to keep as your Cloud Island save. The other slots are detached.

In the app

Starting over

Start new erases one slot: Pokémon, habitats, houses, build queue and shopping list. Your recipes and your other slots are kept. This cannot be undone.

On a shared slot, the owner can erase the island for everyone. The group stays together and everyone starts fresh on the same empty island.

Pick the slot, then tick it off.

Choose your slot on the dashboard, share it if you play with friends, and everything you catch and build lands on the right island.
